Soft Pretzels

Soft pretzels... I love them! We made them for the first time about two years ago with some great friends. They turned out amazing, and ever since I have been craving them. This weekend I finally got around to making them again... and they were just as good as I remembered. So, I thought I would share them with you, here on the blog.

Here is the recipe I used: Soft Pretzels

Lets get started!

Pour your warm water into a big bowl.

Then add your yeast and let sit to activate.

Add in the brown sugar...

... vanilla...

... and salt.

Next, start adding your flour one cup at a time, until a dough forms and it is not sticky anymore.

Set your dough aside and let it rise for a half hour.

After a half hour your bread should be huge!!

Then punch down the dough.

Bring water and baking soda to a boil and then keep it very warm.

Then it's time to start shaping you pretzels!

Start by pulling off about a fist full of dough.

Then roll it into a rope.

Once you have a thin rope then you can shape it into your pretzel.

When you have all of the pretzels shaped dip them in the baking soda mixture.

Then put them on a greased baking sheet.

I sprinkled half of the pretzels with sea salt, and I sprinkled half the pretzels with cinnamon sugar.

Then put them in the oven to bake for eight minutes.

When the pretzels are golden brown and cooked through take them out and brush the melted butter on them. Then... enjoy them as soon as you can!

Here is the finished product...

Enjoy! Lane Elizabeth
