Banana Bread

Banana bread is a favorite around this house... we have a family recipe we use. It is my grandma's (Grammy) recipe and it is just wonderful! I thought it was about time that I shared the recipe.

This is the recipe... the yellow one is my Grammy's handwriting, and the white one is my Mama's handwriting.

 Here is the recipe -

1/2 C oil
1 C sugar
2 eggs
3 bananas
2 C flour
1 t baking soda
1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t salt
3 T milk
1/2 t vanilla

1. Beat oil and sugar
2. Add in eggs and then mix
3. Add in bananas and mix
4. In another bowl mix flour, soda, powder, and salt
5. Mix this into your wet mixture
6. Add milk and vanilla
7. Pour into prepared pans
8. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour

This recipe makes one loaf of bread... I doubled the recipe.

So here goes... start by measuring out the oil.

Then add in the sugar.

Beat the oil and sugar together until combined.

Add in your eggs...

 ... and beat until combined.

Now it is time to prepare the bananas.

We put our over-ripe bananas into the freezer and then use them for our banana bread.

Take your frozen banana and cut both ends off.

Then take your knife and slice the skin down the banana length wise on both sides.

Hold the banana in both hands and twist... the skin will pull away. Cut the banana up into small pieces and place them into a bowl.

Take your potato masher and mash the bananas.

Add the bananas into your mixer.

Now it is time to mix your dry ingredients. Start by measuring out the flour.

Then add baking soda...

... baking powder...

... and salt.

Add your dry ingredients into your wet ingredients.

Then add your milk...

... and vanilla.

Now prepare your pans with cooking spray and flour.

Pour the batter into the pans.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Remove your bread from the pans... and there you have it.

Enjoy!  Lane Elizabeth
